If you're experiencing issues with the CodeScene extension in your JetBrains IDE, our support team may ask you to provide logs to help investigate the problem. This guide will walk you through the process of locating the relevant log files and optionally enabling detailed debug logging.
1. Locate the idea.log
File
JetBrains IDEs (like IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm, PyCharm, etc.) store logs in a specific location depending on your operating system. The primary log file we need is the idea.log
.
Follow the steps here to locate your log files: 👉 Locating IDE log files
Once there, look for the idea.log
file. If possible, include the most recent logs or compress the entire log
folder into a .zip
file before sending it to our support team.
2. (Optional) Enable Debug Logging for More Details
Sometimes, additional information is needed to diagnose the issue. You can enable debug logging in your IDE:
Follow these instructions to enable debug logging: 👉 Enable Debug Logging in IntelliJ IDEA
Once debug logging is enabled, reproduce the issue, and then send us the updated logs as described in step 1.
Sending Logs to CodeScene Support
When you're ready, send the collected log files to help@codescene.com or attach them to your support ticket. Make sure to include a short description of the problem and when it occurred.
